Hatchet 3 (2013) movie analysis
Wiki Article
Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third horror film in the Hatchet Series. It chronicles Victor Crowley's continuing adventures and his rampage across Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder portrays Victor Crowley while Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanbilt plays Misty.
The use of special effects is the main feature of the film. In contrast to many contemporary horror films which rely heavily on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly realistic makeup effects and sets, resulting in some truly terrifying scenes throughout the movie.
The cast delivers a strong performance with Kane Hodder being the most terrifying villain. The dialogue is hilarious and clever enough to make it seem like an 80s slasher film. There (click now to read articles) are some funny moments that stand out in all the gut-wrenching scenes.
However, due to the limited budget (reportedly just $1 million) many of the locations are re-used from previous films in the series--the identical boat house was used twice in the film and much of it feels like it's been recycled from previous films in the series. It's almost like it's familiar to those who've seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2.
Overall, I enjoyed Hatchet 3 even though it was very similar to previous entries in this series--it offered lots of bloody thrills as well as some entertaining performances by its cast members.
